Being the outreach Partner for Earth Care Awards, TERRE team attended the Earth Care Award Ceremony on 17th April at Delhi. Earth Care Awards, the joint initiative of JSW and The Times of India is an award given to the excellence in climate change and mitigation.
The event had a gracious presence of Hon. Mr. Harshavardhan, incumbent minister at Ministry of 'Science and Technology' and 'Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change' as a chief guest.
Also, The veteran actress Juhi Chawla, Mr. Raj Jain for The times Group, Mrs. Marina Walter- UNDP Country Director- India, Mr. Atul Bagai- Country Head- India, UNDP were also presented at the ceremony.
Hon. Minister said,"every day we should perform a Green Good Deed. May be it could be a small act, but everyday you should do something for environment". He also added,"There should be a moral obligation on us that we should conserve the earth. And we should not do this for any reward." Marina Walter stated that all the actions taken for conservation should be publicly recognized for better response. Juhi Chawla said that there should be a change in thought process that will transform the society. The ceremony also included a panel discussion hosted by Suman Mazumdar, where Mr. Ravi Singh, Mr. Chandrabhushan, Mr. Karthikeya Sarabhai and mrs. Seem arora spoke on sustainable livelihood.
From all the four categories namely Urban, Industry, Community and innovations 19 applications were shortlisted by Jury Panel. From those 19 applications, seven application won the prizes while two received the commendation from the jury.The list of all the award winning applications is given below:
