TERRE Olympiad Award Ceremony

TERRE Olympiad Award Ceremony Pune, January 2018 : To achieve the sustainable livelihood one must get educated in proper manner. TERRE Policy Centre putting this as an objective has been conducting TERRE Olympiad at National Level. In the third consecutive year 2017-2018, TERRE introduced the exam in 3 more languages namely Urdu, Bengali and Gujarati. Like the previous years, the exam was categorized in two groups viz. Bud (5th to 9th std) and Flower (10th to 12th std). The competition was supported by TATA Motors and Bharat Petroleum.

The official website for TERRE Olympiad quiz competition was launched o 5th June, World Environment Day. The first round of exam started from 15th August, 2017 and continued for 1 and half month. From the qualifying round, 500 and 600 students were shortlisted from Bud and Flower category respectively. All 1100 students attempted the exam in the month of November in the period of 15 days.

The award ceremony was organized on 19th January 2018, where Hon. Mr. Prakash Javadekar honoured the stage as chief guest. All the students and school winners were felicitated at his hands. “The competition like TERRE Olympiad getting huge response at national level is itself a great and commendable success for TERRE. Students must participate in such kind of extra curriculum exams and get aware about the environment.” Also he congratulated all the winners and encouraged the students for the coming year’s exams. TERRE Founder President, Dr. Vinitaa Apte, in her welcome speech, focused on the activities and projects run by TERRE. Also she welcomed all the honourable guests, students, parents and teachers who attended the event coming from different parts and cities of India. Mr. R. P. Natekar-L.P.G. Head, Bharata Petroleum Corporation Ltd. And Mr. Alok Singh- Plant Head, TATA Motors also graced the stage. The top 3 winners from each category were awarded with gadgets like Laptop, Tab and Hard drive respectively.

Top 100 in each Bud and Flower category, total 200 students were encouraged by awarding consolation prizes which include a 0.5 W Solar Lamp or 8 GB Pen drive.
