In reverential memory of late President and Scientist Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, TERRE Policy Centre, instituted the scheme for Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship with the aim of distinguishing young Researchers from India with extraordinary promise and creativity who have made notable research contributions in the field of Environment protection. However, this fellowship has been solely managed and funded by TERRE. The Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship, considered being the highest recognition of promise, creativity and excellence in a young Researcher, is made annually to those distinguished for these attributes as evidenced by their research work carried out in India.
The year 2020-21 is the Third Edition of the Dr. Kalam Fellowship. Total more than 1000 applications received from all over India this year and the short-listed 15 applicants appeared for the interview with Juries virtually. Interviews were conducted on 11th - 12th May 2021. In this Interview session fellows presented and explained their project ideas and concepts to juries. Our team under expert guidance has shortlisted 15 applications. Our Eminent Juries Dr. Satish Kulkarni (First recipient of the Jagdish Bose National Science Talent Search), Mr. Ashok Mangotra, (Former Secretary to Government of India, and former president Dr. Abdul Kalam) & Mr. Anil Arora (GEF-UNDP Small Grants Program) was highly impressed by the young innovative participants and also gave guidance to the shortlisted candidates. Mr. Ashok Mangotra shared Dr. Kalam's views and dream about the young Indians.
