Classrooms to Climate Action Crusaders (CCAC) Inspires Young Environmental Leaders at Panchgani

The Classrooms to Climate Action Crusaders (CCAC) initiative, aimed at empowering students to actively participate in environmental conservation, was successfully organised at the Asian Plateau, Panchgani, on April 18 and 19, 2026. The programme brought together schools in a unique collaboration-based competition designed to promote sustainability and climate awareness among young minds.

Organised with the support of the TERRE Policy Centre, the event seamlessly blended learning, creativity, and action. A major highlight of the programme was an engaging and insightful session conducted by Dr. Vinita Apte, Founder Director of TERRE Policy Centre. She inspired students with her thoughts on environmental responsibility and practical approaches to climate action, encouraging them to become change-makers in their communities.

The event concluded with an interactive workshop followed by a prize distribution ceremony, where students were recognised for their innovative ideas and impact efforts. Mr. Anil Swarup, IAS, former Secretary, School Education, Government of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasised the importance of value-based learning and the critical role students play in nation-building. He encouraged participants to adopt sustainable lifestyles and take meaningful action towards environmental conservation, urging them to become responsible citizens and proactive climate champions.

As part of the awards, winners received environmental awareness board games from the TERRE Policy Centre, promoting continued learning about sustainability through interactive and engaging methods.

The CCAC initiative successfully demonstrated the vital role schools can play in advancing environmental conservation and nurturing future climate leaders. The collaboration between educational institutions and organisations like the TERRE Policy Centre made the event impactful and meaningful for all participants.
