The Global Women Network for Nature (GWNN), an initiative of TERRE Policy Centre, successfully organised its monthly online meeting on 23 September 2026 on the theme “UN Ocean Decade endorsed Programme for Early Career Ocean Professionals: Global Opportunities for Capacity Development and Networking.”
The session featured Evgeniia Kostianaia, ECOP Programme Global Coordinator and Consultant at IOC-UNESCO and P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Geophysical Center, Russia, as the guest speaker.
During the session, Evgeniia introduced the Early Career Ocean Professionals (ECOP) Programme, highlighting opportunities for capacity development, professional networking, knowledge exchange and collaboration for early career professionals working in the ocean sector. She also discussed the importance of creating global platforms that support young professionals in developing their skills and contributing to ocean sustainability.
The interactive session provided participants with valuable insights into global opportunities, networking avenues and capacity-building initiatives under the UN Ocean Decade framework.
The meeting brought together members and participants from different backgrounds who shared a common interest in nature conservation, ocean sustainability and environmental action. GWNN continues to provide a platform for women and environmental professionals to connect, learn and collaborate towards a more sustainable future.
