On 25th May, TERRE President Dr. Vinitaa Apte felicitated Mr. Pramod Kakade as 8th Prakashache Bet Awardee for his dedicated contribution in Environment Education and Literacy. Mr. Pramod Kakade is a teaching faculty at Sheth Jyotiprasad Vidyalaya, Daud, Pune.
While commending Mr. Kakade for his outstanding efforts, Dr. Vinitaa Apte said, "Creative teachers are the pioneers of sustainable future". Mr. Kakade is a chief co-ordinator of National Green Corps, a scheme by Central Government of India to encourage the students for environment conservation since 2002. On every Holi festival, he encourages all the children to use eco-friendly colours and in Ganesh festival, he organizes the workshop for making eco-friendly idols. He also conducts several competitions like quiz, drawing, coloring, essay writing, oratory competitions etc. with the help of the students.
Additionally, he collects the remaining blank pages from used books and notebooks and binds the pages to make a recycled notebook. This activity has also won Srushti Mitra Puraskar in the year 2011.
Mr. Pramod Kakade has not only won several awards, but has also been selected in many of the national and international level workshops and meetings.
"Let's dedicate each day of the coming year to keeping the environment around us better. One hour each day is a lot in which we can try to reduce carbon emissions. I believe that in the end everyone's small actions can make a positive difference. I wish Happy, Healthy & Successful New Year!!"
