VIBGYOR High School Students Explore Nature, Biodiversity and Tribal Heritage at Kodit

TERRE Policy Centre organised an educational visit to Kodit, Pune, for 30 students and teachers of VIBGYOR High School on 5 September 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with experiential learning on nature, biodiversity, ecological restoration, indigenous knowledge and environmental conservation.

During the visit, students explored the Miyawaki Forest Project and learned about native species, biodiversity and ecological restoration.

As part of the “Rakhi for a Plant” activity, students symbolically expressed their care and commitment towards plants. Students and their families were also introduced to the “Adopt a Tree for a Lifetime” initiative, which encourages long-term care and monitoring of trees.

The students further visited the Tribal Museum, where they learned about tribal culture, traditional practices, indigenous knowledge and the sustainable relationship between communities and nature.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to learn, explore and connect with nature beyond the classroom, encouraging environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility towards biodiversity and sustainable living.
