Well handover Ceremony at Susale Vasati, Vandre Village, Mulshi

TERRE Policy Centre having an objective of sustainable livelihood has started with water shed development initiatives in rural region earlier in 2016. By following the same path, in February 2017 under the CSR initiative in association with Persistent Foundation has took up a project of constructing wells in rural parts of Mulshi Taluka, Pune. As the selected site Pimpri Vasti Vandre and Susale Village Vandre having human population around 500 and 330 animal population in each village, which come under under Shahiyadri region facing water scarcity issues they do not have any other enough water resource nearby area and have many beneficiaries to full fill the potable water need.

On 5th May 2017 the handover ceremony of 25*25 feet constructed well with joint initiative of TERRE Policy Centre and Persistent Foundation has done at both the selected site i.e. Susale Vasati and Pimpri Vasati of Vandre village Mulshi in the presence of TERRE, Persistent Foundation team and villagers. Both constructed well will be sufficient for the villagers to fulfil the annual water need as the wells has received numbers of natural streams which will be enough to serve the yearly water requirement of villagers.

With this TERRE Policy Centre also has supported the Vandre village by providing a gravity piping for distribution of water to villages from higher elevation. As the Vandre village itself having a well of 25* 25 feet but due to its situation located on higher elevation villagers were facing a lot issue to fetch water every day by walking on a high peak every day. At looking to their daily issues TERRE has provided gravity piping system for the village by which villagers can easily get the water.

Director Message

Here is the month of June and the onset of the rain god.
The trees and plants will bloom with rain showers.
However, we see depletion of groundwater storage. The heavy development around us like the cement roads, tiles and construction activities does not help water to percolate in the ground.
We desperately need to plan the storage of water in the ground with help of tanks and seepage.
This will increase the level of groundwater reserves. The rivers, wells and small water reservoirs will have adequate supply.
Harvest water! Conserve life on Earth!
